Generic LLMs cannot interact with block diagrams, so most Al tooling stops at the edge of LabVIEW. The Model Context Protocol changes that. labview-mcp (open source, from Zühlke) gives any MCP-capable Al a structured channel into the LabVIEW IDE and runtime. We share the architecture, a live demo, the limitations we hit, and an honest look at where Al assistance pays off. Bring your scepticism.
